Germany bids a Farewell to Angela Merkel

Germany bids a Farewell to Angela Merkel

Germany bids a Farewell to Angela Merkel

Angela Merkel, a German leader, stepped down from her position saying, “The time has come to open a new chapter.” She has been the German Chancellor for slightly over 18 years.

The Germans elected her as the German Chancellor, and she has led 80 million Germans for 18 years with competence, skill, dedication, and sincerity. She was dubbed “The lady of the world” who has been described as the equivalent of six million men.

During these eighteen years of her leadership no crimes were recorded against her. She did not give any of her relatives government jobs. Her salary was only $263,000 annually.

As she stepped down as the chancellor of Germany the reaction of the Germans was extraordinary in the history of the country. The entire country’s population went out to their balconies of their houses and clapped for her spontaneously for 6 continuous minutes. This is a standing ovation nationwide. Germany stood as one body bidding farewell to the leader.

Merkel was educated at Karl Marx University where she studied physics. At school she learnt to speak Russian fluently and was awarded prizes for her talent in Russian and Mathematics, she was the best in her class. The languages she spoke are German, English, and Russian

Mrs. Merkel has no children, and she is a fervent football fan. Her favourite movie is “The legend of Paul and Paula” an East German movie released in 1973. She also has a fear of dogs. She has won very many awards and honorary degrees towards her contribution to German and the world as a whole.

She left her post leaving Germany on the top and did not claim advantage. She has not changed her wardrobe in eighteen years. At a press conference a female journalist asked Merkel: “We notice that you’re wearing the same suit, don’t you have another one?” Merkel replied: “I am a government employee and not a model.”

At another press conference they asked her: “Do you have house maids that clean your house, prepare your meals and so on?” she replied: “No, I do not have servants and I do not need them. My husband and I do this work at home every day.” She then said to them, “I expected you to ask me about the success and the failures in the work in the government?”

Mrs. Merkel lives in a normal apartment like any other citizen. She had lived in this apartment before being elected chancellor of Germany. She does not own any villa, servants, swimming pools, or gardens.

In brief Angela Merkel is a leading example for all leaders around the world. With leaders like Merkel, we can make the world a better place. Mrs. Merkel is a strong and independent woman and that is what inspired me to write about her.
