Welcome to Oshwal Academy Nairobi Junior High Course Guide.
At Oshwal, we have high expectations for everyone, especially our Year 10 and year 11 students who are our two most senior year groups.
Our Curriculum
At Junior High, we follow the British National Curriculum due to its global reputation of high-quality content and the fact that qualifications are recognized internationally. We follow the Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) exam board. Our curriculum offers a strong academic program for students aged 12-16 years combined with a wide range of extra-curricular activities to bring out the full potential of our students.
In Key Stage Four (Year 10-11)
Subject Choices: During term 3 of year 9, students are supported and guided to make their subject choices for IGCSE
IGCSE Begins: In the first term of year 10, the IGCSE program officially commences.
Key Stage 4 Subjects: We have over 28 courses on offer. Every student must study the compulsory subjects i.e., English Language, Mathematics and ONE Second Language. Students usually take 9 subjects at IGCSE. However, the school will allow students to register for an additional subject on private arrangements. Entry of an additional subject for IGCSE MUST have a written undertaking and commitment from the parents and student. The undertaking must be signed and approved by the student, parent, Head of Department, Teaching and Learning Coordinator and the Head of the School.
Private entry of subjects with practical/course work element will not be allowed. Students taking private subjects will be monitored through the school’s internal assessments.
Oshwal Academy Junior High is an approved Centre for international examination
Boards Cambridge Assessment International Examinations (CAIE) and Edexcel/Pearson.
