Clubs and Student Activities
We encourage our students to join school clubs and other extracurricular activities, through these clubs and the house systems, the students gain valuable traits in areas ranging from teamwork, organizational skills, leadership, logistics, charity, volunteerism, community service and many more.
Students can choose from a wide array of clubs. Every club meeting is facilitated closely by Patrons in charge. We believe that participation in extracurricular activities helps our students to develop “real world” skills. These skills include (but are not limited to):- Goal Setting, Teamwork, Time management, Prioritization, Problem-solving, Analytical thinking, Leadership and Public speaking.
Art Club
This club tries to encourage learning by way of influencing FINE ART growth through social groups association while recognizing and appreciating the cooperate values of Art. Art club is to encourage students to express themselves through work of art.
Drama Club
This club’s mission is to develop the ability among the members to express themselves imaginatively and creatively, to appreciate and tolerate others around him/her and be an active member of the society. It concentrates on developing the students’ personality through performing arts.
Music Club
The club develops social skills in students by involving them in various school activities, such as Annual Sports Day, Annual School Day, and the National Anthem on all school functions. Members also learn to play various instruments like saxophone, tenor, side drums.
Debate Club
This Club has designed its activities with the aim of enhancing the students’ oratory and elocution skills. Through a variety of Oratorical and Elocution Competitions, any willing student is given a guideline of activities: Some activities follow the school calendar while others are day to day or have fixed dates.
Eco Club
The mission of the club is to improve Environmental consciousness and sensitize the students on the importance of keeping the environment clean. This is done through the Eco warriors from each class and by conducting competitions like Mzingira Safi. The club at the end of the year also identifies the Mr. and Miss Environment of the year.
Wildlife Club
The mission of the club is to educate, inspire and assist the students, individuals and organizations of diverse cultures to conserve wildlife and different ecosystems. We encourage students to tour various ecosystems and the National Parks in the country by registration of Safari Card.
French Club
The club’s purpose is to boost fluency in French. It aims to develop the ability to use French effectively as a tool of communication, form a sound base of relevant language skills and to develop appropriate attitudes required for further study, work and leisure. Our activities include Elocution Competitions, French Verse Speaking.
Leo Club
The main mission of the Leo Club is to sensitize students regarding the problems affecting the less fortunate and destitute in our society, and more importantly their role in helping out. The Leo Club is a member of the Lion’s Club of Westlands, Nairobi. Our members recently visited the nursery school at Deep Sea.
Interact Club
Motto “lead interact and connect” i.e. interact is your chance to
– Make new friends / improve your community / Develop leadership skills / Make a difference in the world. The Interact Club at Oshwal Academy is affiliated to The Rotary Club of Muthaiga. The main objective is to raise funds to support the less fortunate in society.
President's Award Club
The President's Award Scheme is the most exciting and challenging activity in the school. It is a youth empowerment programme which provides an exciting personal challenge to young people. It is done at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels.
First Aid Club
The club equip members with knowledge and skills of protecting themselves and be able to protect fellow students, provide first aid during events like The Annual Cross Country and Annual Sports Day. We are also in correspondence with the Saint John Hospital authorities for update on first aid training program for students.
ICT Club
The club aims at:-
- To improve members ICT Skills and design capabilities.
- To sharpen their research skills when using the internet.
- To improve members website creation abilities.
- To provide a fun-loving approach to using ICT.
Journalism Club
The club aims :-
To act as a forum where students can interact through writing and reading articles and a source of information.
To offer students with carefully selected articles on diverse topics such as health and nutrition, beauty, sports, fashion, and many more.
To inspire the students through the school magazine/students magazine.
To capture all school events and store for future use.
Photography Club
This Club has designed its activities with the aim of enhancing the students’ oratory and elocution skills. Home Science Club
- To promote and encourage the development of skills in craft and cookery.
- To encourage the students to develop their talents in handwork and decorating skills
- Teach entrepreneurship by training to sell goods made
Board Games Club
This is a club of future strategies! Students are taught not just to play the games, but also to formulate winning strategies in life. It also offers Academy pupils an alternative game to improve chess performance in different competitions Nationally and Internationally.
German Club
The club’s purpose is to boost fluency in German. It aims to develop the ability to use German effectively as a tool of communication, form a sound base of relevant language skills and to develop appropriate attitudes required for further study, work and leisure. The club members exploit their culinary skills in preparing the German menu. Our activities include Elocution Competitions.
Science Club
- To inspire students to participate in scientific innovations and develop in scientific researching.
- To encourage students to share their scientific knowledge through Science Fair.
- To help students gain confidence and gain leadership qualities in the field of science and face scientific changes in the 21st century.
MSMUN Club
The objective of the club is to expose delegates to several incisive skills such as problem solving and negotiations, which are very useful in academics and professional environment.
Sports Club/Activities
Our goals and objectives for the Sports Programme:
- Fostering a culture committed to excellence and reaching the highest possible level of achievement
- Promoting and representing a positive image of school activities
- Providing opportunities for the student-athlete to seek and archive academic, athletic and personal potential.
